About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Healthcare Support Worker to join our team in our 20-bedded acute ward. As a key member of our multi-professional team, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to individuals with mental health illnesses and disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality care and recovery interventions to service users, working collaboratively with registered care staff.
  2. Maintain a clean, well-organized, safe, and therapeutic environment, supporting registered care staff to perform standardized environmental assessments.
  3. Deliver psychosocially informed one-to-one and group interventions to positively impact service users' cognitive and emotional well-being.
  4. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assuming lead or link roles on core practice initiatives and priorities.
  5. Practice planned care, participating in the development of recovery-focused interventions that address service users' and carers' needs and preferences.
  6. Contribute to ongoing care planning, CPA, and risk assessment processes, maintaining accurate clinical records.
  7. Maintain a basic working understanding of relevant legislation, adhering to AWP's Code of Conduct for unregistered practitioners.
  8. Engage in reflective practice, promoting ongoing clinical practice and a positive learning culture.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • An understanding of mental health issues and experience of using evidence-based approaches to reduce their impact.
  • Experience of working in a busy team, with the ability to use initiative at times of pressure.
  • Possession of, or the ability and willingness to work towards, an appropriate Level 3 vocational qualification (Level 3 Diploma in Mental Health or Health and Social Care).
  • Ability to work with a degree of autonomy, while also taking direction from senior colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate in written and verbal English to a high standard, with basic numeracy skills.
What We Offer

We offer a comprehensive statutory and mandatory training program, including the NHS Care Certificate and a Level 3 Healthcare apprenticeship. You will also receive training to complete the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course. Our ward operates on a 24/7 shift basis, and you will be required to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays, with unsocial enhancements in addition to your basic pay.
