Mental Health Support Worker

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality care and recovery interventions for service users, working collaboratively with registered care staff to promote independence and well-being.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and therapeutic environment, supporting registered care staff to perform standardized environmental assessments and monitor care settings.
- Deliver psychosocially informed one-to-one and group interventions to positively impact service users' cognitive and emotional well-being.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assuming lead or link roles on core practice initiatives and priorities, under the supervision of registered staff.
- Participate in the development of recovery-focused interventions, addressing service users' and carers' needs and preferences, and proactively review, record, and assess the ongoing impacts of such interventions.
- Contribute to ongoing care planning, CPA, and risk assessment processes, collaborating with service users, their carers, and other members of the care team, and maintain basic working understanding of relevant legislation.
- Adhere to AWP's Code of Conduct for unregistered practitioners, promoting and embedding it through peer support and supervision to junior, temporary, and newly appointed Healthcare Support Workers.
- Observe and record interactions with service users and carers, both verbally and in writing, via clinical records and staff handovers.
- Deliver a wide range of fundamental care interventions using evidence-based clinical tools, monitoring and improving physical health and personal well-being, and modeling a high standard of dignity, respect, and candour.
- Engage in reflective practice to maintain and promote ongoing clinical practice.
- Promote and enhance a positive learning culture, being proactive in the induction, orientation, and support of juniors, temporary, and newly appointed Healthcare Support Workers, seeking to embed core care values into practice.
We are looking for an individual with:
- An understanding of how mental health issues can affect individuals, their families, and their community, and experience of using evidence-based approaches to reduce the impact of such issues.
- Experience of working in a busy team and an ability to use initiative at times of pressure.
- Possession of, or the ability and willingness to work towards, an appropriate Level 3 vocational qualification (Level 3 Diploma in Mental Health or Health and Social Care).
- Ability to work with a degree of autonomy, while also taking direction from senior colleagues.
- Ability to communicate in written and verbal English to a high standard and basic numeracy skills.

You will be learning on the job, continually building new skills, and will have access to a comprehensive statutory and mandatory training program. You will also receive training to complete the NHS Care Certificate and a Level 3 Healthcare apprenticeship.
The ward operates on a 24/7 shift basis, and you will be required to work shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays, and will qualify for unsocial enhancements in addition to your basic pay.
