About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pulsed Power Scientist to join our team of experts in designing and developing pulsed power x-ray sources for flash radiography.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Pulsed Power Programmes to agreed time, cost, and quality metrics, as well as contributing to the further development of intense electron beam diode technologies.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performing modelling of electron beam diodes, and their associated ion beams and plasmas
  • Designing and conducting experiments to validate these models
  • Conducting performance analysis of existing Pulsed Power systems
  • Contributing to the further development of intense electron beam diode technologies
  • Providing expertise in the design of pulsed high voltage equipment

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • A degree in Physics or STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Knowledge or working experience of pulsed power systems, electron beam transport, or radiofrequency accelerating cavities
  • Knowledge or working experience of electromagnetic modelling codes, e.g., Circuit Simulation, Particle in Cell, or Radiation Transport
  • Able to provide technical input within own field of expertise that can influence project or team activity
