Job Summary

Robert Gordon University (RGU) is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to join the Widening Access Department as a School Engagement Assistant. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering the University's ambition and strategy of widening access to education.

The School Engagement Assistant will actively engage and deliver the re-developed schools engagement programme, supporting the University's links with local partners such as schools and colleges. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who enjoy contributing to a variety of projects, applying their creativity and ambition to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of wider access programmes, focusing on secondary school engagement and articulation programmes.
  • Develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships, ensuring successful project delivery.
  • Facilitate meetings with internal and external partners to agree project scope and review progress.
  • Maintain accurate notes and project files.
  • Monitor and track students to identify relevant issues and inform future work.
  • Coordinate and deliver ACES activities and programmes throughout the academic year, liaising with university stakeholders, school pupils, and external partners.
  • Develop and deliver key resources for workshops and presentations.
  • Evaluate activities for wider access students, working with the Wider Access Unit team.
  • Develop positive working relationships with students and school pupils.

Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in a relevant subject area or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge and skills:
    • Understanding of higher education.
    • Awareness of the Wider Access Department's remit.
    • Ability to use standard IT packages.
  • Commitment to the personal development of young people.
  • Ability to create and build positive relationships with young people.

Desirable Requirements:

  • Experience in a creative field.
  • UK Driving Licence.
