Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Machine Shop Team Leader to join our team at New Appointments Group. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for leading a team of CNC setters and operators to manufacture small batch, special, and prototype items.
Main Responsibilities- Leadership and Team Management: Lead by example and provide guidance and support to the machine shop team to ensure maximum utilization and efficiency.
- CNC Operations and Maintenance: Program, set, and operate Manual and CNC Mills and Lathes, and act as a mentor and trainer on their use.
- Work Package Creation and Monitoring: Create work packages using our ERP system and monitor progress through the shop to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Daily Start-Up Meetings and Task Allocation: Conduct daily start-up meetings and allocate tasks to the team to meet the requirements of the production plan.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor and report on the performance of the team, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Metric Measurement and Analysis: Measure and record relevant metrics to support key performance indicators (KPIs) and use these to determine actions to improve team performance.
- Staff Appraisals and Training: Conduct regular staff appraisals and reviews, and provide training and development opportunities to ensure the workforce has the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices to improve production throughput, capacity, quality, and reliability, and promote a culture of continuous improvement using lean manufacturing and 5S techniques.
- Experience: Have experience in the manufacture of machined components in a small batch or prototype environment, and experience in leading a team and demonstrating effective communication skills.
- Knowledge: Have a good knowledge of modern manufacturing methods and exposure to lean manufacturing techniques, and familiarity with implementing continuous improvement practices.
