Logistics Operations Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled Logistics Controller to join our team at New Appointments Group, a leading recruitment agency with a strong commitment to diversity, equality, and opportunity for all.
This is a permanent, in-office role that offers a competitive salary, 25 days holiday + bank holidays, free secure parking, a reward and recognition scheme, and private insurance.
The ideal candidate will have experience operating in a manufacturing environment with a deep understanding and application of warehouse principles, practices, and standards.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the store team to ensure it is manned with suitably qualified and experienced personnel to meet expected outputs, through training, assigning, scheduling, planning, and disciplining.
- Coordinate resource requests with other teams to optimize efficiency.
- Control and manage material, consumables, and inventory of special project spares and associated clean room materials.
- Assist the Supply Chain Manager with daily management tasks to drive business growth.
- Meet operational standards of performance by identifying and implementing continuous improvements.
- Ensure company policies and procedures are followed at all times.
- Ensure received items are booked in and located correctly within timeframes to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Coordinate the dispatch process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods to customers and suppliers.
- Monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to demonstrate the stores department's performance.
- Implement inventory management using First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles and commodity management methods such as Kanban.
- Conduct regular perpetual stock takes to ensure 100% of inventory is checked and reconciled annually.
- Optimize warehouse space to maximize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure vehicles, plant, and equipment are maintained and available for use.
- Ensure all shipments comply with Export Controls and Dangerous Goods Regulations.
Essential Requirements:
- GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths.
- Experience of operating in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Export control and handling dangerous goods.
- Computer literacy and experience with ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of warehouse methods, principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
- Knowledge of current Health & Safety and Environmental legislation.
- Ability to react swiftly to changing situations and develop effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
