About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Sibling Support Worker to join our Family Support Team at Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice. As a key member of our team, you will provide holistic support to families of children with life-limiting conditions, focusing on the emotional wellbeing of siblings aged 7-18.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct 1:1 support sessions with siblings in the hospice, community, or educational settings, tailored to their individual needs.
  • Provide practical advice, resources, and signposting to support school staff and family members.
  • Deliver peer support groups for siblings living with a sibling who has a complex life-limiting illness and those who are bereaved.
  • Liaise with professional agencies to advocate for the sibling in multi-agency meetings.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Family Support and Psychological Therapies Manager to identify gaps in the service and make recommendations for service delivery and development.
Requirements
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in a related area, such as childcare, health and social care, or education.
  • Significant experience of working with children and young people with varying needs and experiences, including SEND.
  • Experience of working with wider multi-disciplinary teams and designing and facilitating group work.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage the expectations of others.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the complexities of grief in children, young people, and parents.
