About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Satellite Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Electronics and Embedded Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing satellite systems for a major UK programme with a key client.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements definition and flow down
Requirements capture and definition from stakeholder needs through to sub-systems; ownership of traceability and verification
Verification, Validation, and Test (VV&T) support
Ground System level architectural design definition and trade-offs
Working with Engineering Leads and Partners to define the segment and associated sub-system architectures via integrated Working Groups
Technical proposal inputs
Solution Lead for customer and internal governance reviews
Technical support to bidding teams
Systems Engineering and project management inputs as required - to support planning, schedule, and cost activities
Inform stakeholders on progress and problem resolution
Payload and platform communication design and analysis
Link budget and capacity analysis
Related satellite resource, process, and budgets management
Satellite interface definition and management of the communication subsystems
Support for satellite Assembly, Integration, and Test (AIT) activities, Preparation of all related documentation, extensive documentation, and configuration control is very important in every stage of development processes.
System Test and Commissioning
Support to the new service design process
Specifying, purchasing, and testing of VSAT terminals, to support the delivery of new services

Requirements

You'll be educated to Degree level in an Engineering or Scientific discipline and/or have relevant knowledge and experience; a background in nuclear/radiological safety is highly beneficial for the roles we are looking to fill. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with significant demonstrable experience who don't hold formal qualification. At least 10 years of experience Design, analysis, and test of RF systems.

Essential Skills

Previous experience in the design of satellite systems
Previous experience with satellite network operators
Current knowledge of RF and IF architecture and best design practice
Satellite network system design experience
Able to calculate link budgets for complex SATCOM Systems

Desired Skills

Experience with the MILSATCOM domain but not essential.
Experience with Skynet 5/6
Experience in the design of military communication systems
Knowledge of satellite ranging techniques
Experience working across complete engineering life-cycle

Security Clearance

This role may require security clearance up to SC level and our offer of employment will be dependent on obtaining the appropriate level of clearance. The details of this requirement will be discussed at interview.
