Role Overview
Our Assistant Underwriters will underwrite business within assigned authority, working collaboratively with the underwriting team to achieve business objectives. They will also provide support to underwriters as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain relationships with customers, brokers, business partners, and colleagues to drive business success.
- Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and personal authority to meet business objectives.
- Assist with rating and analysis of underwriting information to inform pricing decisions.
- Calculate risk premiums using company pricing tools for specific lines of business.
- Review submissions, including applications, policy wording, loss runs, and financial reports.
- Provide timely service for new and renewed accounts, adhering to quality standards.
- Manage policy endorsement and adjustment requests, processing necessary changes to policies.
- Oversee monitoring of service levels.
Ad Hoc Responsibilities
- Support underwriters for renewals and client meetings.
- Contribute to and follow the business planning process for the Underwriting division to inform decision-making.
- Support other functions as needed.
Requirements
- A collaborative approach with an innovative mindset, providing creative solutions and ideas for resolution.
- A relentless curiosity, along with excellent analytical and technical skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to manage time, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
- Intermediate-level understanding of relevant software, including Excel.
