Consultant in Anaesthetics with an interest in Orthopaedics

Job Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Anaesthetics department at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage, with some activity required at the new St Albans Elective Hub. The post comprises 10 programmed activities (PAs), additional PAs, and an on-call commitment.
The new St Albans Elective Hub will provide anaesthetic services for elective surgery, including orthopaedic and ENT procedures. This post is suitable for those with an interest in orthopaedic anaesthesia, but also keen to remain part of the general anaesthetic team. An interest in pre-operative care and pathways is essential.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will be expected to work-up complex surgical patients in the perioperative period and be familiar with the interpretation of CPET. The post-holder is required to be skilled in all aspects of orthopaedic anaesthesia, including same-day discharge post joint replacement surgery. The post-holder should be confident in regional anaesthetic techniques to facilitate surgery.
The post holder will be expected to be flexible in their approach to working patterns, undertaking clinical work on any site when required. A strong commitment to the training and education of trainees and other staff members is also expected.
