Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families in the NICU setting.

They will communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality with patient's carers and the multi-disciplinary team, while acting as a professional role model setting standards of practice.

The Nurse will promote clinical effectiveness and opportunities for teaching junior colleagues and students, and administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy.

They will provide accurate, timely, and contemporary records of care and treatment in line with Trust record keeping policy and NMC.

The NICU Nurse Practitioner will demonstrate a broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment, and be interested in the clinical area.

Requirements
  • RSCN Part 8/RN (Child branch, part 15) or RN qualification
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Post Basic Certificate or related study in Neonatal Critical Care
  • 1st Degree in Nursing or health related subject or working towards

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate competence in clinical skills relevant to the clinical area, and have good interpersonal and communication skills, able to communicate effectively with patients, carers and MDT.

They will also be able to initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient, and have the ability to work with minimum supervision.
