If you are passionate about making a difference in the lives of patients and families, we want to hear from you
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse to join our dynamic team. As a NICU Nurse, you will have the opportunity to work with babies who require critical care, providing individualized treatment and support to ensure the best possible outcomes. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team that includes nurses, nursery nurses, medics, consultants, and allied healthcare professionals, all working together to deliver exceptional patient care. With opportunities for continued professional development, including university-accredited courses and in-house training for specialist roles, this is an exciting career opportunity for those looking to expand their horizons.
About the Role
As a NICU Nurse, your main duties will include assessing, planning, delivering, and evaluating prescribed treatment and care for patients and their families. You will administer medicines in accordance with Trust policy, develop clinical skills, and participate in continuous professional development. You will also provide accurate and timely records of care and treatment in line with Trust record-keeping policy and NMC requirements.
In addition to your clinical expertise, you will demonstrate competence in calculations for safe administration of medicines/fluids, be able to communicate effectively with patients, carers, and MDT, and have the ability to initiate and ensure appropriate action in response to the deteriorating patient. You will also be able to work with minimum supervision, act in a professional manner, and be self-motivated. As a team player, you will recognize your own limits and be willing to seek guidance when needed. Teaching/supervisory skills are also desirable.
This role requires a broad knowledge and experience of clinical nursing practice within a hospital environment, as well as an interest in the clinical area. A post-basic certificate or related study in neonatal critical care would be advantageous. Ideally, you will have RSCN Part 8/RN (Child branch, part 15) or RN qualification, current NMC registration, and a first degree in nursing or a health-related subject or be working towards it.
