We are working alongside a special needs school in the Gainsborough area to appoint a Sports and Learning Mentor to work across KS3 and KS4.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with pupils who present with challenging behaviour
  • Lead sports sessions at break and lunchtimes
  • Provide 1:1 support to children in class
  • Use sports as a way to mentor children
  • De-escalate situations where children have shown extreme behaviours
  • Lead academic interventions with children working below age expected levels
  • Assist the class teacher with the setup of lessons
  • Liaise with the class teacher and school SENCO around progress of the pupils
Requirements:
  • Hold a TA qualification or relevant degree
  • Hold at least one sports-based qualification
  • Have had either TeamTeach training or MAPA Training (desirable, not essential)
  • Previously supported children with challenging behaviours
  • Have an understanding of supporting SEN pupils
  • Be able to inspire pupils to reach their full potential
