Criminal Defence Solicitor Job Description

**Job Summary**

Themis Recruit is seeking an experienced Criminal Defence Solicitor to join our team. As a Criminal Defence Solicitor, you will be responsible for providing expert legal advice and representation to clients in criminal matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting interviews with clients to take instructions on criminal allegations
  • Conducting legal research and advising on points of law and practice
  • Attending the Police Station to provide advice and assistance
  • Attending to represent clients in the Magistrates Court
  • Conducting Crown Court litigation and instructing Counsel
  • Drafting letters and legal documents
  • Working in accordance with the Office Manual
  • Administrative duties
  • Handle a diverse caseload of criminal matters with precision and diligence
  • Collaborate with a team of legal professionals to ensure optimal client outcomes

Requirements:

  • Ideal candidates will be between 0-5 PQE, however our client will consider more experienced candidates with up to 10 years PQE
  • Hold Duty Solicitor Status. If you are not the hiring firm will assist in helping you become duty qualified
  • Hold Police Station Accreditation Status
  • Have good attention to detail in reviewing and preparing documentation
  • Strong advocacy and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a collaborative legal team
  • Have excellent IT skills
  • Have excellent time management skills
  • Understand the importance of and provide first class client care
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills
