Job Summary

We are recruiting for a skilled and experienced maintenance technician to join our team at Orion, a fast-paced manufacturing company in Langwathby.

About the Role

This is a mechanically biased position, with 80% of issues on site related to mechanical systems. The ideal candidate will be self-sufficient, confident, and diligent, with a strong focus on delivering a first-class engineering service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform reactive maintenance on medium and heavy plant machinery, including conveyors, mills, compactors, pelletizers, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, sensors, and relays.
  • Maintain mechanical systems, with an emphasis on electrical fault-finding skills and PLC experience.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to determine underlying reasons behind problems and failures, identifying areas for improvement in plant performance.
  • Assist in setting up machines in conjunction with the operations team.
  • Provide a high level of engineering support to ensure smooth production operations.
Requirements
  • Time served apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
  • Mechanical qualifications from a recognized body.
  • NVQ level 3 or BTEC L3 or equivalent.
  • Electrical fault-finding skills and PLC experience.
  • Machinery maintenance experience, including PPMs and reactive maintenance.
  • FMCG or heavy industrial machinery experience.

Working Arrangements

Flexible shifts Monday to Friday, with start times between 8am and 10am. 8.5 hour shifts, with occasional overtime required.
