About the Role

The UK has set out its ambition to be net zero by 2050, and the energy industry is responding. National Grid is building a cleaner, greener Britain, and we need an experienced MI or BI leader to help us achieve this goal.

We're seeking a skilled professional who can work with our existing team to bring it to the next level. As the world becomes more data-driven, our dashboards and reports help the company make informed decisions every day. Therefore, we need someone who can ensure the correct procedures and processes are in place to protect and provide this information, as well as working with our Data, Digital, and Technology (DD&T) stakeholders to iteratively improve.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and maintenance of Power BI dashboards and reports to provide real-time insights and analytics.
  • Oversee the integration of data sources, ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Utilize Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents) to automate workflows and improve business processes.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand their requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions.
  • Train and mentor team members on Power BI and Power Platform best practices.
  • Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in Power BI and Power Platform technologies.
About You
  • Experience in project management and leading a team of BI professionals.
  • Significant experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or similar.
  • Proven expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
  • Experience with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents).
  • Strong understanding of database management systems (SQL, Azure SQL, etc.).
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and impeccable attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse complex data sets and extract meaningful insights.
  • Pragmatic and courageous to find a better way.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level in complex organisations, demonstrating strong verbal and written and interpersonal skills.
What We Offer

A competitive salary between £60,000 – 68,000 – dependent on experience and capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus, 28 days annual leave as standard, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
