The ideal candidate will ensure that robust procedures and processes are established to safeguard and deliver this critical information while collaborating with our Data, Digital, and Technology (DD&T) partners for continuous improvement.

As the MI Development Lead, your primary responsibility will be to oversee the design, development, and execution of data visualization and reporting solutions utilizing Power BI and the Power Platform. You will be instrumental in converting data into actionable insights that drive business strategies and enhance operational effectiveness.

This role supports a hybrid working model, allowing flexibility between office and remote work.

Transition to the National Energy System Operator
In the near future, we will evolve into the National Energy System Operator (NESO), an independent entity responsible for the planning and operation of Great Britain's electricity and gas networks. This transition will enable us to significantly enhance our capabilities and approach to energy management.

The NESO will operate as a public corporation, governed by an independent board, ensuring operational autonomy from governmental and commercial influences. We will remain regulated by Ofgem, committed to delivering optimal solutions for sustainable and secure energy systems.

Key Responsibilities

Direct the creation and upkeep of Power BI dashboards and reports to deliver real-time analytics. Supervise the integration of diverse data sources, ensuring data quality and reliability. Leverage Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents) to streamline workflows and enhance business processes. Engage with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into effective BI solutions. Mentor and train team members on best practices for Power BI and Power Platform. Analyze performance metrics and KPIs to identify trends and areas for enhancement. Ensure adherence to data governance and security protocols. Stay informed about the latest advancements in Power BI and Power Platform technologies.

Candidate Profile

Proven experience in project management and leading BI teams. Extensive background in business intelligence, data analytics, or related fields. Demonstrated expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling. Familiarity with Power Platform tools (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Virtual Agents). Strong knowledge of database management systems (SQL, Azure SQL, etc.). Exceptional leadership abilities to inspire and motivate a team. Understanding of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail. Capability to analyze complex datasets and derive meaningful insights. A pragmatic approach to identifying improved methodologies. Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical audiences. Experience in influencing strategic decisions within complex organizations.
