Division Overview

Our division specializes in delivering outstanding port agency and logistics solutions tailored for the marine and energy industries. As established agents, we are recognized for our commitment to quality, providing 24/7 vessel agency services to the offshore energy and dry bulk sectors.

Role Summary
The Health & Safety Advisor will report directly to the Operational Managing Directors and will offer expert guidance to Clarksons Port Services (CPS) and Gibb Group across multiple locations in the UK and Holland, necessitating travel.

Key Responsibilities
1. The Health and Safety responsibility is delegated to the Managing Director of each entity, who serves as the senior executive accountable for Health and Safety within their organization.
2. The Health & Safety Advisor must possess relevant qualifications and will provide advisory support to the Managing Directors without assuming direct responsibility for Health and Safety management.
3. This role is operationally focused, requiring significant time spent in the field to offer practical advice and insights to directors and managers.

Primary Duties
• Strategic Development - Continuously pursue excellence in Health & Safety management, occasionally collaborating with external consultants for independent audits and support.

• Policy Oversight - Review and endorse all Compliance Policy Arrangements for the organizations.

• Cultural Promotion - Foster a proactive Health and Safety culture aligned with the Group's Health & Safety Strategy, working alongside the ISO Standards and Accreditation Officer to deliver necessary training.

• Operational Compliance Monitoring - Ensure adherence to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and related statutory provisions, advising Managing Directors on compliance gaps.

• Internal Auditing - Conduct audits to ensure a safe working environment that meets all statutory obligations and promotes continuous improvement.

• Risk Management Advisory - Provide guidance on Risk Assessment and Control measures to mitigate risks and support Quality Assurance in Risk Management Standards.

• Workforce Engagement - Facilitate regular discussions to review Health and Safety performance and standards, supporting the Managing Director in Health & Safety Committee meetings.

• Incident Investigation Oversight - Supervise investigations and assist in the approval of serious incident reports, ensuring timely closure of remedial actions.

• Health & Safety Reporting - Deliver monthly Health and Safety declarations to the Group Management Board, detailing any legislative breaches or incidents.

• Contribute to the preparation of the annual Health and Safety Report for external audits, summarizing compliance policies, risk matrices, and previous year’s incidents.

• Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs.

Qualifications
Essential
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (NEBCert)
• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience
• Enrollment in the IOSH IPD/CPD Scheme
Desirable
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in progress
• Active participation in the IOSH CPD Scheme
• 5 years or more relevant experience post-NEBCert
