Role Summary
The Health and Safety Advisor will report to the Operational Managing Directors and will provide expert services to Clarksons Port Services (CPS) and Gibb Group across multiple locations in the UK and Holland, necessitating travel.
Scope of Responsibilities
1. The responsibility for Health and Safety across all CPS and Gibb entities is decentralized, with each Managing Director designated as the senior executive accountable for Health and Safety within their respective company.
2. The Health and Safety Advisor, a qualified professional, will offer advisory services to the Managing Directors without assuming direct responsibility for Health and Safety management.
3. This role is operational, requiring significant time spent alongside operations to provide practical advice and guidance to responsible duty holders, including directors and managers.
Key Responsibilities
• Strategic Excellence - Continuously pursue excellence in Health & Safety management, collaborating with external consultants for independent audits, coaching, and training as necessary.
• Policy Review - Evaluate and endorse all Compliance Policy Arrangements for the companies.
• Health and Safety Culture - Foster a positive Health and Safety culture aligned with the Group's Health & Safety Strategy, Policy, and Standards, collaborating with the ISO Standards and Accreditation Officer to deliver required training.
• Operational Compliance Monitoring - Ensure adherence to the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and related statutory provisions, advising Managing Directors on compliance gaps.
• Internal Auditing - Conduct internal audits to ensure a safe working environment that meets statutory obligations through Audit and Continuous Improvement Reviews.
• Risk Management Advisory - Provide guidance on Risk Assessment and Control measures to minimize risks and demonstrate a commitment to continuous improvement.
• Workforce Consultation - Facilitate regular discussions to review Health and Safety performance and standards, supporting the Managing Director in chairing Health & Safety Committee meetings.
• Incident Investigations - Oversee investigations and assist in the approval of serious incident reports, ensuring timely closure of remedial actions.
• Health & Safety Reporting - Deliver monthly Health and Safety declarations to the Group Management Board, detailing any breaches in legislation or incidents that occurred during the month.
• Annual Reporting - Contribute to the preparation of the annual Health and Safety Report for external audits, summarizing compliance policies, risk matrices, and any statutory breaches from the previous year.
• Additional Duties - Undertake other tasks as required to support business needs.

Qualifications
Essential
• NEBOSH National General Certificate (NEBCert)
• Minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience
• Enrollment in the IOSH IPD/CPD Scheme
Desirable
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in progress
• Active participation in the IOSH CPD Scheme
• 5 or more years of relevant experience post-NEBCert
