Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Manager to oversee all technical, quality, and hygiene related factory issues, reporting directly to the Head of Technical.

This role involves ensuring that all factory procedures are followed and assisting in the training and development of QA team/tech team as required.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head of Technical in implementing and mentoring staff on the technical strategy, ensuring adherence to technical standards, customer codes of practice, and food legislation.
  • Maintain HACCP within the factory, reflecting best practice at all times.
  • Deputise for the Head of Technical in their absence.
  • Manage general housekeeping in all areas, maintaining a high standard.
  • Oversee external and internal site audits, raising and communicating non-conformances, and ensuring timely close out actions to prevent further incidents.
  • Support the application and maintenance of the Food Safety Culture on site.
  • Monitor intake and finished product quality, reporting out of specification results to Production Team and Customers, with corrective actions provided.
  • Assist the Head of Technical in ensuring the technical aspect of NPD is carried out diligently and in a timely manner.
  • Manage, coach, and develop direct reports, including compliance officers and QA/QC teams, to make decisions and demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Liaise with local authorities on technical legislation to ensure company compliance as a food manufacturing site.
  • Manage product complaints, implementing robust action plans that deliver results.
  • Manage the Glass, Hard Plastic & Ceramic register, adding new items as required.
  • Oversee environmental swabbing, water, and product testing regime, ensuring all testing is carried out as per schedule.
  • Purchase technical and hygiene requirements.
  • Coach and manage QA/QC teams, ensuring effective rotas and timely completion of technical tasks.
Requirements
  • Experience in a technical manager role.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment, specifically FMCG industry.
  • Confident collaborating cross-functionally through the business.
Salary & Benefits
  • £43,000- £46,000 DOE.
  • Full benefits to be discussed.

The estimated salary for this position is around £44,000, taking into account the UK's average cost of living.
