Design Director Job Description

At Electric Square, we're seeking a highly skilled Design Director to join our team. As a key member of our design department, you'll be responsible for leading the design strategy and championing the highest quality of design across the studio.

  • Implement the studio design strategy and ensure the highest quality of design across the studio.
  • Decide on the priority of tasks and features on any given project.
  • Effectively manage the time of any team or department, ensuring all work is delivered to time and quality.

As a Design Director, you'll also be responsible for:

  • Supporting work experience and University outreach initiatives.
  • Supporting the Design Director in evaluating candidates and evaluations.
  • Supporting the Design Director with overall managing of the design department.
  • Supporting with annual appraisals for the whole design department.
  • Mapping out and tracking career progression for members of the design department.
  • Performance managing underperforming staff by clearly defining shortcomings, expectations, and timelines to address.

Requirements:

  • Five shipped titles, with a minimum two as lead.
  • At least eight years working in the games industry.
  • Experience working in Unreal Engine 5 required.
