About the Role

Climax Studios, a renowned game development company, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gameplay Programmer to join our team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our development team, you will be responsible for designing and developing key game systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and contributing to the overall success of our projects.

Responsibilities
  • Game System Development: Take ownership of the design and development of key game systems, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Technical Expertise: Bring your extensive knowledge of game development technologies and practices to the team, sharing your expertise and experience to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Methodology and Communication: Develop and maintain standard methodologies for game development, effectively communicating these to other team members and disciplines to ensure seamless collaboration.
  • Optimization and Profiling: Utilize your technical expertise to profile and optimize game systems, ensuring they run smoothly and efficiently.
Requirements
  • Education: A degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years commercial games programming experience.
Desirable Skills
  • Full Game Development Lifecycle: Experience with the full game development lifecycle, from concept to launch.
  • Design and Content Team Collaboration: Proven ability to collaborate with design and content teams to deliver high-quality game experiences.
  • Advanced C++ Programming: Strong skills in C++ programming, with experience in game development.
  • Unreal Engine 4/5: Solid experience with Unreal Engine 4/5, including its features and tools.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Time Management and Organisation: Strong time management and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Logical Thinking and Analytical Skills: A logical thinker with strong analytical skills, able to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Mathematics: Excellent mathematical skills, with the ability to apply mathematical concepts to game development.
  • Passion for Games Programming: A genuine passion for games programming, with a desire to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends.
  • Team Experience: Experience working within a team environment, with the ability to collaborate and contribute to the team's success.
