The Role – What We're Looking For

We are currently seeking a cost consultant/senior cost consultant for our Milton Keynes office. The successful candidate will support project leaders in generating a high standard of service delivery, achieving successful outcomes for our clients, capturing and sharing knowledge across projects, enhancing our culture of innovation, and reinforcing our reputation as a preferred service provider working across a range of projects such as local authorities and government frameworks, schools, and housing.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate cost advice and reporting to our clients.
  • Deliver projects, commissions, and professional assignments.
  • Assume a leading role in setting objectives and priorities, working as a proactive team player.
  • Maintain effective communication to ensure all information is available for the successful completion of projects; liaise with other managers to ensure efficient financial control.
  • Undertake commercial management services with limited supervision.
  • Deliver all work outputs in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Provide support to the team leader/service leaders in cost management of projects.
  • Represent the company in a professional and diligent manner; meet, negotiate, and correspond with clients to form strong working relationships.

What Skills and Attributes Are We Looking For?

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying or equivalent.
  • Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
  • Local authority and education experience.
  • Expert-level Excel user.
  • Proficient in CostX or other cost planning software.
  • Sustainability and data skills, including carbon assessment and Power BI.
  • Contract administration skills.
  • Pre- and post-contract experience.
  • Good technical writing, client-facing, and communication skills.
  • Well-organized, diligent, proactive, assertive, well-disciplined, and commercially astute.
  • A team player with a 'can-do' attitude, outgoing, polite, patient, diplomatic, personable, respectful, and flexible.
