About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Quantity Surveyor to join our team at Mitie, supporting the commercial aspects of project delivery. As a key member of our project team, you will work closely with our Commercial Manager to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the production of budgets, forecasts, and monthly CVR's, ensuring accurate financial reporting and timely decision-making.
- Manage project income recovery, minimizing WIP and debt, and instigate action to ensure prompt payment of invoices.
- Lead on the valuation, tendering, and submission of contract variations, ensuring best value for money.
- Cost reporting, including the preparation of detailed cost reports and analysis.
- Work with the project delivery team(s) to ensure that contracts are administered accurately, and that all stakeholders are informed of key changes.
- Liaise with clients to establish Value for Money on projects and budgets, ensuring that their needs are met.
- Proactively identify and communicate commercial risk and opportunities to the project team(s) and the wider business.
- Review contract terms and conditions for new project opportunities, ensuring that they align with our business objectives.
- Ensure that supply chain partners provide best value for money and adhere to agreed contract terms.
- Establish and maintain good responsive communication with clients, ensuring that their needs are met.
- Support client initiatives and projects, providing commercial expertise and guidance.
- Resolve contractual issues and disputes, ensuring that all parties are satisfied with the outcome.
- Ensure a clear, mutual understanding of contractual requirements is established, and that all stakeholders are informed.
- Provide timely commercial reports, including contract variations, to support business decision-making.
- Support the Commercial Manager in carrying out tender analysis and preparing client proposals and recommendations.
- Support the development of feasibility proposals, providing robust cost estimates and procurement recommendations.
- Undertake cash flow forecasting on projects and programs, ensuring that financial resources are allocated effectively.
- Perform risk, value management, and cost control, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Advise on procurement strategies, ensuring that best value for money is achieved.
- Identify, analyze, and develop responses to commercial risks, ensuring that the business is protected.
- Prepare and analyze costings for tenders, ensuring that proposals are competitive and aligned with business objectives.
- Allocate work to subcontractors, ensuring that projects are delivered efficiently and effectively.
- Value interim and completed works, arranging payments and ensuring that financial transactions are accurate.
- Month-end reporting and financial reconciliation of cost and value, ensuring that financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
Requirements
- Qualified to HND or Degree Level in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
- Experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of delivering commercial success.
- Self-motivated with a flexible approach to work, and capable of working to challenging deadlines.
- Knowledge of contract law and demonstrable knowledge of NEC suite of contracts.
- Mobile and available to travel between sites to meet business needs.
- Able to evaluate tender submissions and produce analytical reports.
- Financial and commercial acumen and awareness, including current contract legislation.
- Analytical and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Excellent numerical and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, with advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Knowledge of application of payment mechanisms.
- Experience of negotiating contracts terms to successful close-out.
Desirable
- Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) or willing to work toward membership.
