About the Role

As an Assessment and Enablement Officer with Barnet Council, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team providing social care assessment and interventions for adults experiencing mental ill health. Your role will involve working directly with residents of Barnet to assess, plan, and review support and opportunities for wider community engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct timely, regular, and frequent reviews of people's support plans, handling sensitive and highly personal situations.
  • Support and assist people to choose appropriate options that will enhance their quality of life and maximise independence.
  • Encourage reluctant, confused, or vulnerable people, enable or negotiate with family, community, or the wider voluntary sector.
  • Conduct appropriate risk assessments with individuals, their families, and providers in line with Mental Capacity Legislation and good practice criteria.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to have demonstrable experience of working within a social care environment. You should also have hands-on experience of and ability to use IT data and document systems. Additionally, you should be able to conduct robust and sound assessments, risk assessments, support plans, and reviews, and facilitate self-assessments, applying the concept of single assessment where appropriate.
