About the Role

North London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mental Health Specialist to join their team in Barnet.

The successful candidate will work across various educational settings, including specialist schools, providing assessment and treatment services for children and young people with mental health needs.

This role requires strong communication and consultation skills, as well as experience in working with complex cases and maintaining professionalism in challenging situations.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Deliver high-quality assessment and treatment services in clinical settings, education, and community environments.
  2. Build capacity and capability within Education to strengthen Tier 1 and 2 CAMHS provision.
  3. Promote mental health and emotional well-being among children, families, and communities, aligned with national guidance.
  4. Identify early signs of mental health problems in children and young people.
  5. Collaborate across boundaries to develop a coordinated response to mental health needs between agencies.
  6. Facilitate access to specialist CAMHS and other relevant provisions based on individual needs.
Requirements
  • A relevant professional qualification in child and adolescent mental health.
  • In-depth knowledge of mental health models and disorders in children.
  • Postgraduate certificates or diplomas in relevant specialties.
  • Minimum 3 years postgraduate experience in CAMHS or a related field.
  • Experience in teaching, training, and supervision.
  • Ability to communicate complex information effectively.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Benefits
