Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating educational and developmental programmes for midwives and other healthcare professionals to improve clinical practices and patient outcomes.

Key duties include:

  • Developing curriculum, training materials, and resources to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Staying updated on the latest evidence-based practices in midwifery.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Midwife with a UK NMC Pin.
  • SSSA/Mentorship qualification.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.

Desirable criteria include:

  • PGCert.
  • Knowledge of educational standards and practice.
  • Understanding of the principles of teaching and learning and their application within the practice setting.

The successful candidate will have substantial post-registration experience, with evidence of working in all areas of maternity.

They will also have excellent time management and organisational skills, excellent verbal, written, interpersonal & communication skills, and proficiency in venepuncture, cannulation, perineal suturing and episiotomy.

The ability to give effective feedback and feedforward to maternity staff, assess competence and level of understanding, and demonstrate leadership skills are also essential.
