Job Title: Customs Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Customs Specialist to join our team at NOV. As a Customs Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth import and export of goods, while maintaining compliance with HMRC guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage customs special procedures for the UK Business Units, ensuring ongoing compliance with NOV customs approvals.
  2. Maintain accurate records of goods imported to Inward Processing and assist with submission of Bills of Discharge to HMRC.
  3. Manage third-party approved vendors in line with current Inward Processing Authorisation.
  4. Prepare and support external audits as required by HMRC.
  5. Knowledge of commodity codes and customs clearance procedures.
  6. Recordkeeping in line with HMRC guidance.
  7. Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and Origin and Preference.
  8. Post-entry audit checks and issuing letters of instruction to customs brokers for IP shipments.

Requirements:

  1. Extensive experience in Import/Export, with a Customs Qualification completed with the Institute of Export (desirable).
  2. In-depth knowledge of Customs practices and Customs special procedures.
  3. Computer literacy, including good command of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  4. Working knowledge of ERP systems and duty management systems.
  5. Ability to understand business needs and drivers, and anticipate the impact of change.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
