About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-focused Veterinary Laboratory Assistant to join our team in Warwick, UK. As a key member of our laboratory, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our specimen processing department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process standard requisitions according to approved procedures, maintaining accuracy and efficiency in all tasks.
  • Remove specimens from transport bags, enter patient, client, and specimen data, label specimens, and aliquot as needed to ensure timely processing.
  • Sort specimens for distribution throughout the lab, including staining, cover slipping, and digital scanning of cytology submissions.
  • Ensure Turnaround Times (TATs) are met, supporting the quality and reliability of our services.
  • Collaborate with SPR, blood sciences, and microbiology teams to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of specimens after testing, ensuring all specimens are accounted for.
  • Retrieve and prepare add-ons and rechecks, adhering to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Requirements
  • Proven laboratory experience, preferably in a veterinary or clinical setting.
  • Experience in haematology and chemistry is highly desirable.
  • Attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
