Biomedical Laboratory Technician Specialist

About the Role:
The University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust is seeking a highly skilled Biomedical Laboratory Technician Specialist to join their team in the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service (WGLS). As a key member of the laboratory team, you will be responsible for performing various tasks, including automated and manual laboratory investigations, operating complex electronic equipment, and preparing reagents.
Responsibilities:
- Performing a range of routine automated and manual laboratory tests
- Operating complex electronic equipment according to laboratory and manufacturers guidelines
- Preparing reagents and ensuring they are stored and used according to manufacturers guidelines and laboratory procedures
- Processing clinical specimens, including swabs, body fluids, tissues, and blood samples
- Maintaining laboratory stocks in each section and safely using and maintaining a range of laboratory equipment
- Participating in the training of new or less experienced Support Workers in the section
Requirements:
- 5 GCSEs at A-C level or equivalent
- NVQ level 3 education or equivalent level of experience
- Working knowledge and competency in laboratory bench areas (desirable)
Salary: £28,000 - £34,500 per annum
