Job Description
About You:We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health Specialist to lead our Environmental Quality Team. As the lead officer, you will be responsible for supervising day-to-day workloads, ensuring customer care, and promoting a supportive working environment. A degree or diploma in environmental health or equivalent qualification is required for this post.
About the Role:You will lead a busy multi-disciplinary team that deals with environmental and pollution issues throughout the city. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assessing the potential environmental impacts of planning and premises licence applications.
- Investigating complaints of statutory nuisance arising on commercial premises.
- Processing applications for and issuing environmental permits.
- Leading our air quality monitoring programme and preparing statutory reports.
- Overseeing the council's pest control service.
- Responding to requests for environmental information.
The role involves occasional out-of-hours working and site visits that may require walking on rough terrain or climbing ladders.
