Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

We are seeking a skilled Environmental Health Officer to join our team in Exeter. As a key member of our environmental health services, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the health and well-being of our community.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will assist the Environmental Health Manager in providing a regulatory service and carrying out statutory duties. This will include investigating complaints relating to commercial premises, collecting evidence for court proceedings, and overseeing works conducted as a result of legal action.

You will also be responsible for administering various schemes within commercial premises, undertaking research, monitoring, and providing information and statistics as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Environmental Health Manager in providing a regulatory service
  • Investigate complaints relating to commercial premises
  • Collect evidence for court proceedings
  • Oversee works conducted as a result of legal action
  • Administer various schemes within commercial premises
  • Undertake research, monitoring, and provide information and statistics as required
Requirements:
  • BSc/Diploma in Environmental Health and EHRB Certificate of Registration
  • Experience of producing clear and accurate reports, including problem-solving solutions
  • Good level of experience of dealing with complaints/enquiries from members of the public
  • Full driving licence
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Experience of working within Environmental Health Services or the work covered by the post
  • Good understanding of PACE, CPIA, RIPA, and other Acts associated with investigations
Working Arrangements:

This is a temporary role, working Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. The successful candidate will be required to work out of hours on a monthly basis.
