Job Title: Environmental Health Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental Health Officer to join our team at Exeter City Council. As a key member of our Environmental Quality Team, you will be responsible for leading the team and ensuring the delivery of high-quality environmental health services to the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a busy multi-disciplinary team dealing with environmental and pollution issues throughout the city.
  • Assess the potential environmental impacts of planning and premises licence applications.
  • Investigate complaints of statutory nuisance arising on commercial premises, taking enforcement action where necessary.
  • Process applications for and issue environmental permits, undertaking inspections of permitted processes.
  • Lead our air quality monitoring programme and other environmental monitoring, preparing required statutory reports.
  • Oversee the council's pest control service.
  • Respond to requests for environmental information.

About the Role:

As an Environmental Health Officer at Exeter City Council, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of environmental health issues, from noise and odour complaints to air quality monitoring and pest control. You will be part of a dynamic and ambitious team that is committed to protecting and enhancing the health, welfare, and environment of the people of Exeter and those using the services obtained from within the City.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have a degree or diploma in environmental health or an equivalent qualification. You will also need to have excellent technical knowledge and demonstrable enforcement experience in environmental health. A passion for providing excellent customer service and a creative 'can do' approach to Environmental Health are essential.
