About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Release and Environment Manager to support the planning and execution of deployments to our technology platforms. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for defining, implementing, and running Release and Environment management processes and procedures across our various platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor others in delivering effective outcomes aligned with business needs.
  • Manage resources on a 121-basis, including performance management and people issues.
  • Line manage Release Managers, including performance management, objective setting, and training and development.
  • Act as a liaison between technology departments and business stakeholders, fostering effective communication and understanding of project objectives.
  • Impact assess change to our technology and coordinate the delivery and scheduling of change and releases with internal technical teams and external suppliers.
  • Work with Release Managers to ensure consistency of deployment planning and execution across all technologies.
  • Coordinate deployment activities on complex multi-component deliveries across internal and external teams through Test to Production.
  • Define and implement Deployment Management processes and procedures across all areas of technology.
  • Educate and act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to embed processes and behaviors across technology.
  • Manage and track Environment usage and coordination demand across multiple projects, releases, and stakeholders.
  • Perform post-Release/Deployment reviews and make recommendations to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Produce MI/reporting associated with release and deployment volumes and success.

Experience of defining and implementing Release and Environment frameworks for both internal and externally hosted technologies is essential. A good understanding of Platform technology and working with 3rd party suppliers is also required. You should be keen to take ownership and comfortable interfacing across multiple technology functions and teams. A self-starter who is comfortable defining and implementing new processes and frameworks and can educate and embed is ideal.

Key Competencies

  • Proven leadership experience.
  • Good understanding of Platform technology, architecture.
  • Previous experience in platform release, deployment, or configuration management roles.
  • Proficiency in tooling such as JIRA, Excel, SharePoint, and Confluence.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and evaluate improvement options.
  • Experience of defining and implementing processes and frameworks across multiple technology functions.
  • Ability to influence and educate users and management.
  • Experience of applying continuous improvement to enhance process and procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify risks and issues and work with stakeholders to mitigate these.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Confidence to use your own initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and remain agile with conflicting work demands.
