Job Title: Sports Learning Support Assistant

We are seeking a dynamic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work within the PE department in an alternative provision school for Key Stage 3 students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sports and a commitment to supporting young people who thrive in an alternative learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the PE department to support students in physical activities and sports, encouraging their active participation.
  • Assist with planning and delivering tailored sports sessions that engage students of all abilities.
  • Help students develop teamwork, discipline, and personal responsibility through physical education.
  • Manage and de-escalate challenging behavior, creating a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
  • Build trusting relationships with students, helping them feel supported, valued, and comfortable in their surroundings.

Requirements:

  • An interest in sports and physical education, with experience in coaching or a similar role being highly desirable.
  • Experience working with young people who have experienced difficulties in mainstream education.
  • Ability to manage and support students displaying challenging behavior in a calm, understanding manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building positive relationships with students.
  • A genuine commitment to helping students build confidence, skills, and a sense of belonging through sport and physical activity.
