Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented support assistant to join our team at a primary school in the Everton area. As a sports coach and teaching assistant, you will play a vital role in forming strong relationships with students and ensuring their academic and social development flourishes.

The school benefits from excellent transport links and has earned a glowing reputation for providing exceptional support to its pupils. The Headteacher is keen to introduce this new role, aimed at supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs who may require extra assistance.

As the chosen support assistant, you will work between 25-32 hours per week, dividing your time between sports coaching and pastoral mentoring. You will provide tailored support, primarily on a one-to-one or small group basis, to children who face difficulties integrating into the mainstream school environment due to a variety of special educational needs.

This role places particular emphasis on enhancing social skills and building confidence through engaging sports activities. As part of your duties, you will also lead high-quality PE sessions and organise sports activities during break and lunch times.

The school is seeking applicants with experience in a primary school setting, ideally with exposure to both KS1 and KS2. Additionally, candidates with qualifications and/or experience in delivering sports programmes to young children will be given priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs
  • Lead high-quality PE sessions and organise sports activities
  • Work closely with the Headteacher and other staff members to ensure the best possible outcomes for students

Requirements:

  • Experience in a primary school setting, ideally with exposure to both KS1 and KS2
  • Qualifications and/or experience in delivering sports programmes to young children
  • Ability to work effectively with children and staff members
