Exciting Opportunity for a Sports Coach and Teaching Assistant

An outstanding primary school in the Everton area is seeking a talented support assistant to fill a unique part-time role as both a sports coach and teaching assistant. This individual will play a vital role in forming strong relationships with students and ensuring their academic and social development flourishes.

The school benefits from excellent transport links and has earned a reputation for providing exceptional support to its pupils. The Headteacher is keen to introduce this new full-time position, aimed at supporting children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Needs who require extra assistance. The finer details of the role are still being finalised, as funding for this position has only recently been confirmed.

As the chosen support assistant, you will work between 25-32 hours per week, dividing your time between sports coaching and pastoral mentoring. You will provide tailored support, primarily on a one-to-one or small group basis, to children who face difficulties integrating into the mainstream school environment due to various special educational needs.

This role places particular emphasis on enhancing social skills and building confidence through engaging sports activities. As part of your duties, you will lead high-quality PE sessions and organise sports activities during break and lunch times.

This is a truly rewarding opportunity that will make a significant difference in the lives of the students, especially those facing greater challenges. The school is seeking applicants with experience in a primary school setting, ideally with exposure to both KS1 and KS2. Additionally, candidates with qualifications and/or experience in delivering sports programmes to young children will be given priority.
