Exciting Opportunity at BluePearl Pet Hospital
We are seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician to join our busy Emergency and Critical Care department in Rochester, MN.
As an Emergency Veterinary Technician, you will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing your skills to provide care and comfort to critically ill or injured patients.
- Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia in patients using anesthesia/monitoring equipment.
- Triage emergency cases, obtaining vitals such as temperature, heart rate, respiratory rate, and blood pressure.
- Perform digital radiography using proper technique, including patient positioning.
- Have a complete understanding of normal patient vital signs, including heart and respiratory rate, temperature, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation.
- Obtain and interpret blood pressure and other vital signs, alerting Veterinarians to changes and issues.
- Identify patients at risk for arrest and initiate CPR.
- Calculate medical math, including constant rate infusions, and administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
- Be proficient in phlebotomy and placing intravenous catheters in all peripheral vessels.
- Place and maintain feeding tubes and central line catheters.
- Mentor and train other coworkers, demonstrating patience and empathy in addressing client concerns.
