About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join our team at Dräger. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of our employees, visitors, and contractors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide timely, practical, and professional occupational health and safety advice to management and employees.
  • Develop and promote a positive health and safety culture within the organization.
  • Assist in the promotion, development, and review of our accredited safety management system (ISO).
  • Facilitate the generation and review of risk assessments.
  • Deliver internal health and safety training courses.
  • Undertake health and safety inspections independently and in conjunction with line management.
  • Assist with the incident investigation process, including receiving and investigating reports of adverse events.
  • Maintain the tracking system for recording, reporting, investigating, and actioning adverse events, risk assessments, inspections, and tours.
  • Maintain the health and safety intranet site and generate periodic reports and presentations on performance.
  • Deputise for the Head of Health and Safety as necessary.

Reporting Relationships

The successful candidate will report to the Head of Health and Safety UK/I.

Size of Team/Environment

The role will be part of a close team of 3 people based within the Blyth facility.

Role Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
  • IT literacy and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
  • Knowledge of Power BI is desirable.
Related Experience

We are looking for candidates with an industrial background in an H&S advisory role.

Experience in Major H&S Topics

The successful candidate will have experience in:

  • Risk assessment, including task, machine, and hazardous substances.
  • Inspection, including workplace and fire.
  • Audit, including systems, process, legislation, and compliance.
  • Systems management, including policy development, implementation, and review.
Skills and Special Competencies

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Good written skills, including drafting reports and safety procedures.
  • The ability to generate presentations and training materials using Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to persuade and influence others at all levels within the organization.
  • Capacity for analytical thought.
  • Project management skills.
