Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Site Manager to join our team at Midlothian Council. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and facilities, providing exceptional customer service, and maintaining a safe and secure environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain the security and maintenance of our buildings and facilities, including opening and closing procedures, key holding, and access control.
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of facility staff, including cleaning, maintenance, and repairs, to ensure that our buildings and facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
  • Develop and implement effective maintenance and repair strategies to minimize downtime and ensure that our facilities are operational at all times.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that our facilities meet the needs of our staff, students, and visitors.
  • Monitor and report on energy consumption and implement energy-saving initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint.
  • Ensure that all health and safety procedures are followed and that our facilities are compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external contractors and suppliers to ensure that our facilities are maintained to the highest standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to our staff, students, and visitors, responding to queries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A sound education with preferably O' Levels in English and Maths.
  • Experience in a janitorial or facility services environment, together with The British Institute of Cleaning Science stage 1 and stage 2 certificates and the certificate for BICSc assessors.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with staff, students, and visitors.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional customer service and ensuring that our facilities meet the needs of our staff, students, and visitors.
