Director of Cancer Programmes

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Director of Cancer Programmes to join our team at the West Midlands Cancer Alliance. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a critical role in driving forward our 8-point Health Inequalities plan and improving health outcomes for people living with cancer.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our 8-point Health Inequalities plan, working closely with stakeholders across the wider alliance, NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Systems. They will have a proven track record of delivering health inequalities programmes across complex systems and be able to demonstrate a strong understanding of local and national health policy and strategic issues within the NHS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead on the development and implementation of the 8-point Health Inequalities plan
  • Work closely with stakeholders to deliver the plan and improve health outcomes for people living with cancer
  • Provide advice and guidance on health inequalities and their impact on patient care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including NHSE, NHS Trusts and Integrated Care Systems
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure that health inequalities are considered and planned for when developing strategic cancer initiatives
  • Implement and monitor Equality Impact Assessments for the Alliance's programmes and projects

Requirements:

  • Master's degree or equivalent level of experience in a relevant field
  • Project management qualification or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience of working within complex clinical environments
  • Good knowledge of cancer pathways and performance standards
  • An understanding of local and national health policy and broader strategic issues within the NHS

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 per annum, depending on experience
