Senior Student Retention Officer - GBS Global Applied Knowledge

ROLE PURPOSE: The purpose of this role is to ensure the highest possible student retention and progress rates at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. As a key member of the Student Retention team, you will work closely with the Head of Student Retention, Retention Managers, Student Success Tutors, and academic staff to re-engage students in their studies and support their academic success.

This role requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. You will be responsible for monitoring student progress, identifying areas of concern, and developing strategies to support students in achieving their academic goals.

Main Responsibilities

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with the Retention Managers to monitor student progress and identify areas of concern.
  • Develop and implement strategies to support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to Student Success Tutors and academic staff to ensure that students receive the best possible support.
  • Collaborate with the Student Retention team to develop and implement retention strategies.
  • Analyze data and reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with students, academic staff, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent with knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice.
  • Previous experience of working with students in higher education, specifically with mature students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to adapt messages for a diverse audience.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize effectively to achieve objectives, work collaboratively in a team, and build and maintain positive relationships with students.
  • High level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
