BAE Systems is seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer – Nuclear (EC&I) to support the design, build and test activities on the Naval Reactor Plant (NRP). As a key member of the Platform Nuclear Engineering Department Team, you will work closely with engineering members of the test and authorisation groups to develop sound technical solutions to issues arising during construction and commissioning.

Key responsibilities include specialising in EC&I discipline, carrying out nuclear safety assessments of submarine design changes and deviations from the submarine design intent, and ensuring the design intent of the Naval Reactor Plant is maintained during build and test activities on site. You will also be required to represent the business and operate alongside our Enterprise partners, namely the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Rolls-Royce Marine Power.

To be successful in this role, you will need a degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or Control and Instrumentation Engineering, experience of supporting build and commissioning of Electrical and/or Control Systems, and demonstrable understanding of 3 phase/single phase machines; digital and analogue based control systems and mechanical interfaces. Technical report writing skills are also essential. The estimated salary for this role is £90,000 - £140,000 per year, depending on your location and experience.
