Job Purpose

We are seeking an Educational Support Professional to join our team at Brook Street UK. This role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to make a positive impact on students' lives and help them achieve their full potential.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to students with learning difficulties, disabilities, or emotional needs, helping them access mainstream or discrete courses.
  • Assist in implementing assessment strategies and monitoring student progress, working closely with the Learning Support Coordinator and teaching staff.
  • Liaise daily with teaching staff to ensure effective support and communication.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to enhance personal growth and contribute to the division's success.

Accountabilities

  • Acknowledge and respect students' rights while ensuring their safety and well-being, including assisting with personal care needs as outlined in their individual support plans.
  • Accompany students on curriculum-related visits, advocating for their interests and encouraging independence.
  • Communicate student concerns and issues to teaching staff and departmental managers in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Support students in transitioning into and progressing through programs, providing reading and writing assistance when needed.
  • Collaborate with senior departmental staff and other professionals to develop and implement support strategies tailored to individual students or groups.
  • Help address attendance issues and work with teaching staff and departmental managers to identify reasons for poor attendance and retention.
  • Maintain regular liaison with the Learning Mentor Coordinator and attend key worker meetings, collaborating with other professionals involved in student care.

General Expectations

  • Familiarize yourself with and adhere to college Health and Safety policies, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Be prepared to undertake additional duties as required.
  • Potential travel may be necessary to attend meetings and collaborate with teams.
  • Take responsibility for promoting the welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults and adhering to PREVENT guidelines.
