About the Role

Fugro is seeking a Senior Marine Environmental Scientist to join our team in Edinburgh Heriot Watt University campus office. As a pivotal part of our team, you will be responsible for leading marine mammal/protected species and passive acoustic surveys on a variety of vessels worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of surveys from mobilisation, calibration, and deployment of survey equipment to monitoring data acquired, processing samples, accurate log keeping, and demobilisation administration.
  • Lead technical report writing, providing technical input, review, and quality control of report deliverables.
  • Train staff in collecting, arranging, interpreting, and presenting survey data and results within reports.

Requirements

  • BSc in Marine Science, Environmental Science, or equivalent.
  • Experience of undertaking marine mammal/protected species observation surveys, passive acoustic monitoring, and underwater noise surveys.
  • Technical report writing with specialist knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: marine mammals/protected species, underwater noise/mitigation, or environmental legislation.
  • Project or team leader experience.
  • Good Microsoft Office capabilities.
  • Excellent organisational, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work to deadlines.
