Consultant Chemical Pathologist Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Consultant Chemical Pathologist to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a quality service in Chemical Pathology and lipidology and/or metabolic medicine services.
The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive knowledge of laboratory and clinical aspects of chemical pathology and metabolic medicine, as well as the ability to manage complex lipid and/or metabolic medicine disorders.
As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, the Consultant Chemical Pathologist will be expected to work flexibly and productively to achieve the strategic clinical, operational, and business objectives of the service.
The post is based in our state-of-the-art Pathology and Pharmacy building at the Royal London hospital in Whitechapel, and the successful candidate will be a full and active member of the team.

Person Specification- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification
- Full FRCPath by examination or evidence of equivalent qualification
- Full and specialist registration with the General Medical Council (or be eligible for registration within six months of date of interview)
- Applicants who are UK trained must also be holders of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in Chemical Pathology + Metabolic medicine, or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
- Applicants who are non-UK trained will be expected to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT
- MRCP or evidence of equivalent qualification
- PhD or research MD
- Ability to manage complex lipid and/or metabolic medicine disorders
- Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team
- Comprehensive knowledge of laboratory and clinical aspects of chemical pathology and metabolic medicine
- Knowledge of clinical governance issues
- Evidence of management training and experience
- Experience of audit
- Experience of teaching
- Involvement in service development and quality improvement processes
- Understanding of laboratory accreditation processes and requirements
- Evidence of formal teaching qualification
- Research projects relating to specialty area(s)
- Publications in relevant specialty journals
- Organisational skills
- Communication
- Leadership ability
- Ability to engage in matrix/systemwide organisation structures
- Enthusiasm to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional, or national levels
- Acts in accordance with Trust's values
