Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Critical Care Practitioner to join our team at Morriston Hospital Emergency Department. This innovative post offers an excellent opportunity to work on the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) Cymru and Cardiff Physician Response Unit (PRU).

About the Role

The post holder will be clinically responsible for the diagnosis, supervision, and management of patients attending the ED. They will provide initial treatment and assessment of adult and pediatric patients presenting with illness or injury and arrange for patients to be reviewed or admitted by medical staff from other specialties.

Main Duties

The post holder will participate in a full shift 24/7 rota of more experienced doctors who provide support to the junior grade at Morriston ED. They will also undertake fixed sessions with the EMRTS at Wales Air Ambulance bases in Llanelli and Welshpool, working alongside consultants and critical care practitioners.

Person Specification
  • MB BS or recognized equivalent
  • GMC registration with a license to practice
  • Evidence of working towards Primary MRCEM, Primary FRCA, or MRCP
Requirements

The post is subject to the national medical and dental terms and conditions of service. The appointee will be remunerated on the NHS MN37 pay scale, at a point matching NHS training grade pay and progression, banded at 50%.
