Job Title: Inclusive Participation Specialist

The Inclusive Participation Specialist will play a critical role in delivering the key priority of the Nottinghamshire SEND Improvement Programme, which is to gather a wide range of views of children and young people with SEND and their families.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate a range of accessible co-production and other participation and engagement activities across the County, ensuring that seldom heard and vulnerable groups are successfully engaged.
  • Establish effective communication processes with children and young people, parents, and carers, and act as the key contact for the local authority with the Nottinghamshire Parent Carer Forum.
  • Implement the local area's statement of intent for co-production and develop and maintain a toolkit to support co-production activities across the partnership.
  • Establish and maintain a network of consultative groups of children and young people with SEND attending education settings across the local area.
  • Manage the arrangements ensuring that the voice of children and young people with SEND, and their parents, carers, and families, informs and influences the SEND Partnership Assurance and Improvement Group.
  • Analyse and interpret information from the co-production and engagement activities and present these in written reports and presentations to Partnership and internal meetings.
  • Analysing and reporting on feedback from families through the Integrated Children's Disability Service and the local area partnership.
  • Raising awareness of co-production with colleagues.
  • Being a key point of contact for families to triage and signpost to the appropriate team/service managers.

Requirements:

  • A good knowledge and understanding of co-production.
  • An understanding of the issues facing children and young people with disabilities and their families.
  • Experience of working with individuals and groups using a solution-focused and person-centered approach to devise solutions together.
  • Experience of engaging people who might have previously found it hard to take part in activities, and access services and support, and designing activity that is inclusive and accessible to all.
  • A high level of personal drive and commitment to excellent customer care and the ability to set an example for other staff.
  • Significant experience of working, with minimal supervision, in a developmental role.
  • Experience of collecting, collating, analysing, and presenting data in a meaningful way.
