About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Navigo Health and Social Care CIC. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our service users with all aspects of their care, including activities and personal care.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver care within the environment, assisting in the development of all aspects of care for older people with mental health problems.
- Participate in the delivery of individualised planned programmes of care.
- Assist with supervision, assessment, planning, and implementation of mental health care to meet the needs of the individual.
- Participate in occupational and diversional activities.
- Assist with the physical needs of clients, helping with dressing, washing, toileting, and other personal needs where necessary.
- Provide helpful advice and encouragement to patients who wish to perform such tasks for themselves.
- Support patients to return to live in the community, where appropriate, by listening to and conversing with clients, helping them to maintain contact with family, friends, and community, and assisting with recreation aimed at creating a supportive atmosphere where patients can achieve maximum independence.
- Observe patients' general condition and report any changes to the appropriate health professional.
- Be aware of their responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act and work in such a way as to encourage an atmosphere conducive to healthy working conditions.
- Be aware of and comply with all relevant policies and procedures laid down by NAViGO.
- Work flexibly, participating in a 24-hour rota.
- Attend and participate in ward/department meetings as required.
- Be aware of the need for complete confidentiality.
- Participate in supervision and PDR processes as per local policy.
- Participate in mandatory and other training as required.
Person Specification
- Has a basic understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and DoLs. Is open to development of their knowledge in the needs of mental health patients.
- Basic written communication skills to enable completion of records, etc.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of mental health.
- NVQ level II or a willingness to undertake this or a certificate in Mental Health.
