About this Role
We are seeking a compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse to provide high-quality care to patients experiencing mental health issues. In this rewarding role, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to develop individualised care plans and administer medications, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatments. You will also provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families, fostering a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • To conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' mental health needs and develop individualised care plans.
  • To administer medications and monitor patient responses, ensuring adherence to prescribed treatments.
  • To provide emotional support and counselling to patients and their families, fostering a therapeutic environment.
  • To collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement treatment strategies and evaluate patient progress.
  • To maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • To participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in mental health nursing.
  • To engage in crisis intervention when necessary, employing de-escalation techniques to ensure patient safety.

What We're Looking For
  • Valid registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
  • PMVA Certified
  • Strong knowledge of patient care principles and practices, particularly in mental health settings.
  • Understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to mental health conditions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with patients.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team while also demonstrating initiative in patient care.
  • Compassionate approach with strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy towards patients' experiences.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts as required by the service needs.
